A trading blog in the main from a man who is about to quit his mundane job and try to make a sucess of trading horsracing and other sports before deciding whether to get another job.

An early start brings rewards

Balance: £1000.00

Although i am not starting this full time until 22nd March i have been looking to make a little bit of profit just to give me a little headstart for the first week so if things don't quite go to plan i have a little breathing space, although i am aiming for £50 a day i am not sure whether this can be made from trading alone especially when i will only be risking 5% of the bank per trade. This is why i am also going to be laying favourites for the flat season aswell as a top up but i actually think a lot of profit can be made in the first few weeks of the flat.

I started to look at Betfair on Friday night and combining the Wolverhamtpon meeting with the RSA racing at Greyville just to get my eye in if you like, you may ask why on earth use the South African meeting but i have had some pretty good sucess laying favourites around this time of the year before.

After winning on all three races there i moved onto the night meeting at Wolverhampton with another three sucesses before having a win bet on Bridge of Fermoy, yes it is against the system but i was very confident it would win and did place a saver place bet on it aswell even though he flew away from the field.

So at the end of the first day i was £121 in profit.

Moving onto yesterday and i had identified Ayr as my target meeting for the day purely because they had just survived an inspection and the ground was heavy, always a help, anyway did very well there and also mixed it up with a couple of trades making £7 each on the Rugby and also the Man. Utd cup game. I also laid short price Revello Bay at Sandown to have another fantastic day which produced £135.32.

It is unlikely i will have another bet now before Cheltenham starts - my plan here is to lay some of the favourites depending on price though as Cheltenham always provides plenty of value for the backers. I am particularly interested in laying Ingles Drever at the moment, if i make anymore bets i will post them here.

P&L: £256.34

Good luck to all.

What i want to do and when it all starts

After betting for a few years now i had a change of heart from betting in the traditional way such as the shops etc. and opened an exchange account and did reasonably well from laying favourites in the flat season last year, it was all going really well until my purple patch turned to a rather dark colour and i began thinking about what went wrong. It made me think that my overall stratergy wasn't bad but i had to look at things in a lot more detail and spot trends etc that would all factor in to what went wrong. I came to the conclusion that there are so many variables with racing and other sports that there must be a way of using the exchanges price movements to gain profit no with the result of the sporting event / race becoming irrelevant and hence i started to look in 'trading'.

I have been trading for nearly a year now in the evenings after work and done reasonably well, my work has got so ad now that i have decided to leave and see if i cna make a go of trading in the daytime as opposed to just the evenings i was doing before.

At the minute i am just setting this blog up aswell other things i am putting in place for the day i start this new journey Saturday 22nd Mrch 2008 you will notice this is the first day of the new flat season and my blog will feature two different systems running together, a trading one which will be where i hope to make my daily wage from and a 'laying' system which i am hoping will give me some bigger capital to help boost the trading for the winter aswell as a few nice treats over the summer.

I will be a complete beginner to 'trading' full time so it will be interesting to see how i cope with the afternoons up and downs over the next few weeks.

I will be grateful if anyone would like to post any comments at all and will update the blog daily.

Until the 22nd good luck.
