2 November 2006 - WEDNESDAY: Shumookh proves to be a schmuck

I made a profit from my lay bets and my back-to-win selections -- nothing major, but a respectable start to the month. The money came for Bonchester Bridge at Huntingdon steadily throughout the morning and she scored at 3/1. The real value was to be had on Betfair mid-morning when you could have taken 15/2 about her.

I successfully layed bets on four fancied horses, including the odds-on favourite Shumookh, but gave most of the profit back when Cleaver won the last at Nottingham.

Shumookh was 4/6 odds-on to win a race stepped up in class and on unproven soft ground -- scandalously short in price, no wonder bookies make money -- and he came in last.
